Sweet Romance
I've always designed in quite an intuitive way. The styles and fabrics I design, the trims I source and the collections I curate always have to really make me feel something. Without this feeling of knowing that something is right for our label, it never eventuates into more than something that could have been.
The Sweet Romance styles began with a trim - tucked under a stack of 1950's pattern magazines in a French fabric mill, I almost didn't see it. Until a tiny rose pink flower embroidered into delicate mesh caught my eye. I gently untangled it and instantly knew that it would eventually become part of the prettiest dress.
Rose pink flowers were contrast perfectly with sweet sage leaves, further cream flowers were embroidered into the mesh and a scalloped edge finished it off perfectly.
I designed the dress around the lace, sourcing a gently crinkled fabric which we dyed to a rich yet pale shade of buttermilk. A delicate cotton cord was then sourced, which finished off the detailed neckline. As the dress is beautifully simple with a bias cut skirt and short sleeves, the lace and neckline are able to shine through.
Once the dress was designed, I knew that the fabric would also work so beautifully in a boyfriend shirt. The slouchy feel of the style contrasts perfectly with the pretty fabric, creating a versatile piece to be worn across all seasons. It's a style I reach for time and time again and looks great tucked into denim, worn under a blazer or trench and draped over a swimsuit for the warmer days.
Two new styles that I hope you love as much as I do....
