A FLOWERS FATE
An invisible thread connects those who are destined to meet regardless of the time, place or circumstance. The thread may stretch, tangle and weaken but it will never break.....
Its dusk in Shanghai. A woman runs through the streets in a flurry of excitement. Her pale dress illustrated with pansies drapes softly behind her, as she rushes to meet the man she’s hoping to love.
The clock strikes midnight in New York. A man boards a plane to Shanghai which will land in the early morning light. Jetlagged and dreading a business meeting that could be the death of his company. He can still smell the perfume of the girl who wore his simple white shirt hours earlier.
The sun begins to rise in Paris. A little girl lets her feet hit the ground as she sleepily rubs her eyes. She’s happy in her heart with no worries to think of but has no idea that her world will soon collapse. The delicate Chinese orchids on her nightgown is a reminder of where she was born.
A storm brews in Dublin as the day comes to a close. Two young girls laugh and chat about the things that will never matter in life. The printed silk of their robes sways in the wind as they plan their next trip to anywhere but here.
The connection of these people is inevitable. It’s already mapped out....
SS16 explores the way in which our destiny is decided regardless of our actions and how those from different cultures become intertwined. The prettiest orchid prints are given an edge by heavy dark brush strokes. Pansy prints inspired by flowers pressed between old novels lack symmetry to represent how messy even the sweetest life can be. These prints sit easily together as a fusion of east meets west, alongside the simplicity of minimal silk & knitted linens to create a collection of special yet wearable pieces.
